Body wrapping is just one of the many spa treatments that has been recognized for their therapeutic effects throughout the ages.
In the past there has been a debate on the how the epidermis was in anyway porous and that all skin preparations were only superficial.
However most recently this has been exposed as nonsense and the use of all kinds of effective skin patch treatments treating problems for a whole array of problems such as nicotine addiction and pain relief. With the use of penetration enhancers a number of medicines are being administered in this way instead of by injection.
Beauty treatments like face masks and body wraps have relied on products like clay and mud, more currently products have other ingredients such as gels and essential oils.
Body wrapping where the body is wrapped in bandages, plastic sheets or thermal blankets for different therapeutic purposes is now a very popular treatment. Products can be applied directly to the skin to achieve results.
