Aromatherapy works because essential oils can be absorbed by our skin and then move directly into our bloodstream. This is possible because the molecular structure of essential oils is relatively small so that the essential oils are able to penetrate the dermis and pass into the bloodstream. They are soluble in fat and this also helps them to be absorbed.
