This course is offered as a reflexology workshop and is open to anyone interested in learning more about hand reflexology, self-treatment techniques, and how to perform treatments on friends and family. You do not need to be a reflexology practitioner to take this course; it is accessible to students and clients alike.
Hand reflexology is often mistakenly considered a less effective form of reflexology. This misconception is not correct, although sensations or responses from hand reflexes may be slightly delayed, taking a few seconds longer to be experienced. The hands are much more accessible, making it easier for clients to practice self-treatment techniques on their own hands rather than their feet, which can be particularly challenging for those with mobility issues.
This workshop is also a critical part of a Professional Reflexology Practitioner’s certification. The Practitioner Diploma is awarded upon completion of case studies. If you wish to provide this treatment to paying clients, you must complete, or have already completed, your anatomy and physiology training (proof is required), along with the completion of 15 case studies.
For Reflexology Therapists – It is suggested that you demonstrate a few hand reflexology techniques to clients as an excellent aftercare tool! Additionally, you can run short workshops yourself, focusing on chosen themes to educate clients about self-treatment techniques. This is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness and enhance your income.
What is Hand Reflexology? Hand reflexology operates in the same way as foot reflexology. You will employ the same techniques used in foot reflexology when working on the reflex points of the hand, providing a full treatment that addresses all body systems. It can be utilized when treating the feet is not possible, such as in cases of contraindications, severe foot damage, or amputation. Hand reflexology is also advantageous for self-reflexology treatment since hands are more accessible than feet, allowing for greater flexibility in the treatment location and timing.
Applying pressure to specific reflex points may help relieve stress and tension and address specific ailments in between treatments. The effects of hand reflexology mirror those of foot reflexology, but the treated area is smaller, and the points are more concentrated.
Hand reflexology is an excellent treatment for individuals who work extensively with their hands, such as registered massage therapists (RMTs) and those suffering from repetitive strain injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, and similar conditions.
Please note, this course is now part of the 330-hour Reflexology Diploma program.
