Fire and Ice (Hot/Cold Stones) Massage Therapy

Cocoa Heaven Canadian School of Holistic Training offers the opportunity to study this wonderful massage over a two day course.

On successfully completing the course you will be awarded with the Hot Stones Massage Practitoner Diploma.

An American massage therapist, Mary Nelson, was the founder of the original hot stone therapy which she called ‘LaStone’. She wanted a system that would enable her to continue her therapy practice while easing her stiff and painful wrist joints. Using the stones to massage achieved this goal, while also enhancing the massage treatment.

Use of the stones is much more than a tool for the therapist; the warmth of the stones is truly comforting and they connect us with Mother Earth, grounding our vibrations.

The history and benefits of hot stone therapy
Your working environment
Consultation process including contra-indications
Contra-actions and aftercare advice
The use of hot stones in other therapies and Care of your stones
The stone movements
The Hot Stone Therapy routine
Course pre-requisites: a previous qualification in body massage (eg Swedish Massage, Holistic Massage or Aromatherapy)

CEU Points are awarded for this programme

Assessment: Observation of treatment and written assessment on the day of the course.

What’s included? All products and equipment supplied on the day, comprehensive course manual, accredited certificate. We do not sell Hot Stone kits.

Models: courses will still run if there is only one student but you will need to bring a friend or family member on whom to practise. It is the responsibility of the student to find a model. If there is more than one student attending you will practise on each other. All models must be over 16, and in good health (please see T&C)

Course pre-requisites: Basic Massage Qualification and Anatomy and Physiology Qualification

ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY CAN BE STUDIED ALONGSIDE THIS QUALIFICATION – Online learning

Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology (or equivalent eg prior therapy training, nursing or physio training) is required.  Cocoa Heaven offer a home study email course in A&P  which can be studied at the same time as your Swedish and/or Hot Stone Therapy Massage Diploma.  You will need to have covered at least the first 4 units before you do the practical course.  Your massage certificate is not issued until the A&P is completed.
